HONG KONG, Hong Kong- Kenya Lioness remained on the path to qualifying for next season's HSBC World Rugby Sevens series when they notched their second successive victory in Pool B of the Hong Kong 7s on Thursday morning.

Having silenced neighbours Uganda 24-0, Kevin Wambua's girls raced to a 36-5 victory over the hosts to join Brazil and Papua New Guinea as the teams that chalked two pool victories on the trot.

Missed tackles proved to be costly for the home side where in contrast the Lionesses kept their opponents out and worked well in attack for the win where Grace Adhiambo and Diana Awino bagged a brace of tries with Camilla Atieno and skiper Philadelphia Olando crossing the whitewash.

Janet Owino and Grace Adhiambo who kicked between the sticks twice added the extras.

Dotted down

In their opening encounter, Olando was first on the scoreboard as she dotted down giving Lionesses the first five points of the match with Adhiambo missing the conversation.

After the restart, the ladies sent the ball wide to find winger Janet “Shebesh” Okello who swung past the Uganda defenders to score the second try with Adhiambo coming through with the extras. 

Sinaida Aura then raced down the pitch but was tackled at the opponents 5m mark, despite Uganda’s stiff defense, the Lionesses managed to break through it and land their third try through Adhiambo and she added the conversion.
