HULL,United Kingdom- Hull City made it six Sky Bet Championship wins in a row with an impressive 3-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday at the KCOM Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Dominant from start to finish, the Tigers went in front in added on time at the end of the first half through Jarrod Bowen who made it another brace when adding a second from the penalty spot soon after the break. Fraizer Campbell came off the bench to net the third as Nigel Adkins’ side moved into the top half of the table.

Adkins made just one change to the eleven that started the 6-0 win against Bolton Wanderers last time out in the league, with Todd Kane coming in for Eric Lichaj. Former Tigers George Boyd and Michael Hector started for Wednesday, who were led by caretaker boss Steve Agnew.

The Tigers were on the front foot straight away and a lovely move down the left involving Kevin Stewart and Stephen Kingsley created the first chance of the afternoon with just a minute played. It ended with Kamil Grosicki advancing into the box before seeing a low shot bring a fine save out of Keiren Westwood in the Wednesday goal.

A Grosicki corner then saw Jordy de Wijs head over the bar before a third chance inside the opening ten minutes arrived as Grosicki slipped a ball through for Chris Martin who was denied by Westwood with the goalkeeper coming off his line quickly.

Westwood was again equal to the test as Grosicki fired a low effort at goal before the Tigers appealed for a penalty when Martin appeared to be pulled back by Owls’ defender Liam Palmer when attempting to get on the end of a cross from the right.

Markus Henriksen was the next to try and beat Westwood but again the keeper was on form as Wednesday had seemingly weathered the storm and had a chance of their own four minutes before half time when Adam Reach blazed over from the edge of the area.

However, the Tigers made a deserved breakthrough in added on time. Grosicki fired a pass into the feet of Bowen who controlled well before curling left-footed into the bottom corner from 20 yards.

Hamstring injury

Stephen Kingsley fired wide of the near post early in the second half after being played into the box by Grosicki and the home side’s dominance continued as they were awarded a 52nd-minute penalty when Martin went down under Westwood’s challenge. Bowen stepped up to take it and sent the keeper the wrong way as he found the net.

De Wijs sent a header over from Grosicki’s free kick ahead a first change which saw Campbell replace Evandro.

Campbell, on his return from a hamstring injury, was quick to get in on the action as he made it 3-0 14 minutes from time. Too quick for Wednesday defender Tom Lees, the striker nipped in before blasting a finish past Westwood.

A second change saw Jon Toral come on for the hard-working Martin in the final ten minutes and a third came as David Milinkovic replaced Bowen as the home side comfortably saw out a third successive Championship clean sheet.
