Overall winner Snow leads line-up to Karen as Charania wins final Safari Tour Series at Windsor to finish third

NAIROBI, Kenya- Safari Tour Golf Series champion, Greg Snow is among the nine local professionals who got the nod to to fly the national flag at the 2019 Magical Kenya Open Golf Championship.

At the same time, Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club’s Rizwan Charania returned a 1-under par 71 score on the final round of the Series at his home course to win with a score of 3-under par 218 to finish third overall behind Snow and long-hitting Dismas Indiza.

Snow, who won four of the six rounds of the series launched last year, topped the standings with 113.5 points with Indiza (111) second and Charania (79) finishing a further third following his victory at Windsor.

David Wakhu (72), who won the Nyali Golf and Country Club leg of the circuit launched last year finished fourth on the Road to the Kenya Open ranking.

Professional Golfers of Kenya Captain, John Wangai (68.5), Thika Golf Club's Simon Ngige (66.5), Golf Park's Tony Indimuli (53.5), Vet Lab's Nelson Simwa and Windsor's David Opati who tied at 51 rounding off the nine pros who will tee off in the European Challenge Tour signature event in that order.

The series was launched to give local pros valuable playing time in tournament format as the country continues her wait to produce a home grown winner at its biggest golfing event.

Jacob Okello who lost the 1994 Kenya Open title on sudden death play-off is the closest the home nation has come to producing a champion at the event where famous Golf Majors winners such as the late Seve Ballesteros and Trevor Imelman cut their teeth.

Snow has featured in the Kenya Open 11 times with his best finish being 10th in the 2014 edition.

On Wednesday, Charania hit a one under par 71 in the final round to win the Windsor leg with a total score of three under par 218 in the four day tournament.

Following the victory, Charania will be featuring in Kenya Open for the 15th time this year.

“I’m delighted because this  is a result of hard work I have put in place since the series began last year. I’m already motivated for Kenya Open,” Charania underlined.
