NAIROBI, Kenya- Gor Mahia FC CEO Omondi Aduda has confirmed the change of venue for his clubs opening SportPesa Premier League (SPL) match against Tusker FC on Saturday, August 31.

The epic duel was set to be played at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos but will now kick off at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu at 4:15pm.

Champions Gor under the tutelage of new coach Steven George Pollack are seeking to secure a third straight league title under a third coach.

“We don’t have fans in Machakos and hence the decision to shift the game to Kisumu, where we have many fans and we know they will turn in large numbers to support the team.

“That is what we have adopted and it is part of our new plans to restructure the day to day running of the club,” Aduda told SportPesa News.

Gor won the 2018/19 SPL title under Turkish-Cypriot Hassan Oktay who resigned from his post as head coach earlier this month after citing he had family issues back home in England.

They have since lost Rwandese star forward Jacques Tuyisenge to Petro Atletico, Francis Kahata to Simba SC and captain Harun Shakava who left for Zambian outfit Nkana FC.

“We want to maximise on the revenue we get from gate collections and also bring order when it comes to fans purchasing tickets.

“We will not accept cash at the gates, and anyone intending to attend the match should purchase his or her ticket online,” he added.
