NAIROBI, Kenya- A memorable week for SportPesa Premier League (SPL) champions Gor Mahia FC head coach, Hassan Oktay, got even better on Thursday when he was declared as the Fidelity Insurance/Sports Journalist Association of Kenya(SJAK) Coach of the Month for February.
Oktay led the most decorated club in the land to make history last Sunday when they defeated Petro Atletico de Luanda 1-0 with nine-men to qualify for the CAF Confederations Cup quarterfinals for the first time ever since the continental club competition was remodeled in 2004.

Despite their grueling Confed Cup Group D campaign SPL titleholders and 17-time domestic league winners kept their pursuit for a record-extending 18 crown alive by putting together a superb unbeaten run of five- four wins and a draw- in the local championship under the guidance of the fiery Cypriot born Turkish Oktay during the month under review.
K'Ogalo started February with a 1-0 victory away to Vihiga United FC before outclassing their domestic arch rivals AFC Leopards SC 2-0 in the first SPL Mashemeji Derby of the season at the MISC Kasarani.
Local giant
Log leaders and 2009 champions, Sofapaka FC were then seen off 1-0 before Western Stima FC escaped with a credible 1-1 draw with the champions who rounded off the month by toppling another local giant and 11-time league winners, Tusker FC 1-0.

Oktay garnered 12 points in a poll conducted by a SJAK panel to beat Bandari FC tactician Bernard Mwalala who led the Dockers to four wins and a draw in February to second with eight.
The Gor boss follows Stima's Paul Ogai (January) and Mathare United FC's Francis Kimanzi (December) in winning the Coach of the Month award that comes with a KSh75,000 cash prize this season.
