NAIROBI, Kenya- Enosh Ochieng’ salvaged a draw 1-1 draw for Ulinzi Stars FC to go joint-top of the SportsPesa Premier League (SPL) scoring chart on Wednesday afternoon in a midweek battle of former champions.
Elsewhere, Bandari FC title charge took another serious knock when they went down 0-2 at Sony Sugar FC as Nzoia Sugar FC and Zoo Kericho FC sweat out a 1-1 stalemate.
The results saw third-placed Bandari FC (32) miss out on the chance to leapfrog champions Gor Mahia FC (32) and leaders Sofapaka FC (33) to the summit of the SPL in what was the Dockers third loss of the season.
Tusker (23) are above Ulinzi (22) following their draw in ninth and 10th in an outcome that failed to benefit both sides' ambitions on making up ground on the front runners.
Ochieng's 56th minute spot kick cancelled out Sydney Ochieng’s opener
in the 35th to salvage a point for the Soldiers who are unbeaten in their last
five matches.
Robert Matano’s charges meanwhile have not won in as many
matches despite snapping a four-match losing streak.
At the Awendo Green Stadium, Derrick Otanga’s goal in the 77th put the final nail in the
dockers coffin and sealed all three points for Sony who leapfrog Western Stima
FC into sixth with 28 points.
Solomon Omollo had put the sugar millers ahead with a well taken effort in the 50th.
Bernard Mwalala’s Bandari are now without a win in their
last three matches and will need to pick up the pace that saw them lead the
standings for the better part of the season if they are to challenge for the
title.

Champions Gor, who have three games in hand and were in Machakos
on the day taking on lowly Kenpoly FC in a SportPesa Shield encounter.

salvage a point for his side in a 1-1 draw.
