Continental Champion Manvir Sets Sights On KNRC Title After Kilifi Victory

The three-time African title holder is convinced that his Skoda Fabia R5 machine, which led him from gun to tape, will be up to the task for his intended mission

KILIFI, Kenya-  Tripple African champion Manvir Baryan and his navigator Drew Sturrock are now motivate to win their maiden Kenya National Rally Championship (KNRC) title following their victory in the fourth leg of the circuit in Kilifi at the weekend. 

The duo are convinced that their Skoda Fabia R5 machine, which led them from gun to tape, will be up to the task for their intended mission.

"We have never won the KNRC title so this is now our target this season. We wil strive to bag every remaining leg to take the main trophy home,” underlined Manvir.

Manvir's Skoda Fabia R5 christened ‘the rat’ felled all opponents including the much- fancied Onkar Rai's VW Polo R5 which made its debut on Kenyan soil in Kilifi.

The weekend win moved Manvir to second place on the log with 73 points behind series leader Baldev Charger who is on 102.

They dislodged Top Fry team of Carl "Flash" Tundo and Tim Jessop who are now third.Tundo and Jessop skipped Kilifi tour due to pressing commitments.

After four rounds of brilliant displays, Chager became the first driver to rack up the three figure mark and like Manvir promised to keep on pushing.

"Like in every rally we want to do our best and gain maximum points. Our next plan is to win the Nanyuki contest,” Chager underscored.

Kilifi was a bitter pill for Rai who was forced to retire after running out of fuel.
