Champions Gor Mahia Sip Tusker To Open Seven-Point SPL Lead

- Gor Mahia FC opened up a seven-point gap at the SportPesa Premier League (SPL) summit after a convincing 2-0 win against Tusker FC at the Kenyatta Stadium on Saturday afternoon
- Gor, who were awarded a walk over after Mt. Kenya United FC did not show up for their Thursday league game, now have 55 points and look on course for a third successive title
- Gor now travel to Nakuru on Monday for a league match against Ulinzi Stars FC at the Afraha Stadium
MACHAKOS, Kenya- Gor Mahia FC opened up a seven-point gap at the SportPesa Premier League
(SPL) summit after a convincing 2-0 win against Tusker FC at the Kenyatta
Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Gor, who were
awarded a walk over after Mt. Kenya United FC did not show up for their
Thursday league game, now have 55 points and look on course for a third
successive title.

The defeat was
Tusker’s first in five matches, leaving them in sixth with 38.
The game was the
second of a double header in Machakos, with Kakamega
Homeboyz FC scoring an 88th minute equalizer to salvage a 1-1 draw with
newcomers Kenya Commercial Bank FC.

forward Jacques Tuyisenge opened the scoring in the 16th minute to give K’Ogalo
a deserved lead.
Samuel Onyango
followed with a second in the 32nd for a 2-0 score that they took into the halftime
break.
The second half was cagey and failed to produce lots of
clear cut chances on goal except for a fine save by Gor keeper Shaban Odhoji
with a quarter of an hour left in the encounter.
Gor now travel to Nakuru on Monday for a league match
against Ulinzi Stars FC at the Afraha Stadium.
