NAIROBI, Kenya- Western Stima FC coach Salim Babu stated that his side needs to retain their focus so as to finish in a respectable position after being awarded the Fidelity Insurance Coach of the Month Award.

This was his second coach award for the 2019/20 Kenya Premier League (KPL) season after bagging the first one of the campaign.

Babu beat Tusker FC's Robert Matano for the December award, with both coaches winning three games and drawing once last month but Stima's goal haul propped him above Matano.

“I am glad this is happening again this season and I want to thank my family and my team for this win. December was very competitive and I must say we really did our best to win the games that we played,” Babu said during his coronation at the Moi Stadium.

Stima scored 10 goals and conceded four in their encounters against Nzoia Sugar FC , Zoo FC, Chemelil Sugar FC and Sofapaka FC while Tusker scored half of Stima's tally but conceded just two.

The Stima tactician also pocketed KSh75,000 courtesy of the event sponsors Fidelity Insurance to become just the third coach to win multiple monthly gongs since its inception five years ago.

“We are trying hard to make the entire team develop and compete for the trophy.

“We had good pre-season training and started the season really well but results have not been as consistent,” he added.

Stima are currently in seventh place with 30 points after 17 matches, and are on a two-match losing streak and will need to pick up the pace in their next fixture against bottom club Chemelil.

“We will take our chances in the remaining games as we hope to finish in the best position possible.

“We still have a good team and just need to keep our focus in our remaining matches,” Babu concluded.
