Tottenham stretched their unbeaten run to nine English Premier League games after a remarkable 3-2 comeback victory over Leicester City on Wednesday.

Steve Bergwijn came off the bench to score two goals in 80 seconds to seal all three points for Antonio Conte's side.

Leicester, who were playing their first league game of 2022, took the lead through Patson Daka but Harry Kane drew Spurs level before the break.

James Maddison restored the Foxes lead in the 76th minute but three minutes later Bergwijn came on, unknowing of the impact he was going to have on the game.

Leicester were moments away from inflicting a first Premier League defeat on Spurs since Antonio Conte took charge, before Bergwijn grabbed a 95th-minute equaliser from Matt Doherty's pass.

His goals in the 95th and 97th minutes of the game saw Tottenham leapfrog Arsenal on the league table into fifth place with 36 points, still with three games in hand.

Elsewhere, Manchester United cruised to a 3-1 victory against Brentford after a sublime second half performance at the Brentford Community Stadium.

Youngster Anthony Elanga opened the scoring 10 minutes after the break before goals from Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford put the game comfortably out of sight.

The hosts got a late consolation goal from their top scorer Ivan Toney but it was not enough to avoid a third straight league defeat.

They remain in 14th place with 23 points, 12 less than Man United in seventh place.
