Top Scorer Kapaito Bags Second MVP Title, Tusker Scoop 5 Awards

Kariobangi Sharks forward Erick Kapaito was the man of the moment as he was named the Kenya Premier League's Most Valuable Player at the Gala Awards on Tuesday night.

The award was the second in the 25-year old's career after taking it home during the 2017/18 KPL season as well.

In addition to that, Kapaito also received the Golden Boot Award after scoring 24 goals in 30 games in a season where his side finished in fifth.

He became only the second player ever to win the MVP award twice in his career.

For his efforts, Kapaito took home a total of KShs 1.5 million as well as three nights for two in Mombasa and Maasai Mara as well as a 55-inch television courtesy of StarTimes.

The Golden Glove went to Ulinzi Stars custodian James Saruni who kept 12 clean sheets and he too walked away with three nights for two in Maasai Mara and KSHs 500,000.

Sofapaka's Lawrence Juma won the midfielder of the year award for a blistering performance for his new team, saw him score 15 goals and provide 5 assists.

Newly crowned champions Tusker FC stole the show as they scooped 4 awards on the night including the Digital Team of the Year award.

Robert Matano won the Coach of the Year award for guiding his side to glory for the first time since 2016, whilst his colleague George Apudo was named the Team Manager of the Year.

Henry Meja, Tusker's top scorer for the season, was crowned the Young Player of the Year and his teammate Eugene Asike bagged the Defender of the Year Award.
