Newly appointed AFC Leopards tactician Tomas Trucha has pleaded with the club fans to rally around its players during their miserable start to the 2023/24 Football Kenya Federation Premier League campaign.
Ingwe currently sit in second last position on the league standings on four points, 12 behind leaders Posta Rangers and are the only club yet to register a win from the opening seven games played so far in the season (D3 L4).
Over the weekend, the club’s woes were further compounded as they lost 1-0 away to Bandari FC in Mombasa, leaving them without a league win since 27 August.
Speaking a day after the humiliating defeat, Trucha, who was overseeing his first official match in charge called on the Ingwe stakeholders to rally behind the club at this point more than anything else as they try to navigate past the torrid run.

“Dear AFC Leopards supporter, give players love and support like you are giving to your beloved children, as you all know the bad times they have gone through. I saw players working hard all week to be part of a team for the Mombasa trip.
All the players are trying their best to absorb all the new information and instructions in the shortest time possible,” read part of his statement.
The former Orapa United manager went ahead
to call out some of the fans for attacking their own players even as he
highlighted why the team is currently struggling to put results together.
“To see some fans attacking their own players verbally and almost getting physical even though they gave their best is hurtful. All this happened even before the match.

We all know what happened before the start of the season. Many players were signed at the last moment, the team is almost new, the previous coach left, and many more changes happened.
Now we need to support each other and help the club and players when it's most needed,” the Czech tactician noted.
The coach, who is making his second stop at the den after a brief one-month spell in 2021 ended by promising to help solve Ingwe’s problems and return the club to winning ways.
“I came back to AFC because it is time to help, and I know we will push our players to win the games, but for now, we should all stay together and support each other.

Negativity, threats, attacks, doubts, and insults will never help our Ingwe family come back to its glory days. Let’s rally behind the team with love; better days are coming,” he concluded.
Next for Ingwe will be a clash against fellow strugglers Nzoia Sugar who are just one point above them.
