NAIROBI, Kenya- The national women's football team, Harambee Starlets continued their impressive start to the CECAFA Championships with a resounding 12-0 hammering of minnows Djibouti on Tuesday afternoon.

Starlets sit atop of Group B with six points after they opened their account with a 2-0 win against Ethiopia on Sunday in the Tanzanian capital Dar es Salaam.

The David Ouma coached side have responded well after being eliminated from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics qualifiers after a 3-2 aggregate loss to Zambia's Shepolopolo.

Starlets are now through to the semis of the tournament, where they are hoping for a maiden victory in the regional competition.

Jentrix Shikwanga was the star of the tie with four goals, while her teammates Mwanahalima Adam and Mercy Airo both bagging hat-tricks.

Starlets, who lost 2-1 to Tanzania in the last edition of the tournament in 2016, now wait to complete the group stages with a match against Uganda on Thursday afternoon.
