MACHAKOS, Kenya- SportPesa  Premier League (SPL) defending champions, Gor Mahia FC, beat Chemelil FC 2-0 at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Wednesday evening to climb back into the top ten of the table.

Gor got the first goal through Nicholas Kipkirui in the 47th minute and Boniface Omondi stretched the tally to 2-0 in the 55th after he converted a Lawerence Juma’s pass.

The victory saw the 17-time champions move up four places to ninth with six points after four matches which includes two wins and two losses.

Chemelil took a nose dive to 14th with four points in five games after the defeat.

Sydney Ochieng was on target twice as Tusker FC beat visiting Vihiga United FC 2-0 at the Ruaraka Stadium to climb to third place.

Ochieng converted a Timothy Otieno cross to give the brewers a 1-0 lead in the 15th and made it 2-0 five minutes later when he drilled in a rebound following a shot that had hit the cross bar.

The victory saw Robert Matano’s side climb to third on the log with 10 after five matches that have resulted in three victories, a draw and a loss.

Coast based Bandari FC extended their unbeaten run to five after forcing a barren draw against Zoo Kericho FC at Kericho Green Stadium.

Bandari are now perched at sixth with two wins and three draws while Zoo are in 15th.

Western Stima FC also drew 1-1 with Sofapaka  FC at Moi Stadium in Kisumu, taking their unbeaten run to five.

Cavin Odongo put the powermen 1-0 up in the 51st before Ellie Esieche leveled matters for Sofapaka in the 61st.

The draw left Stima in second with 11 while Sofapaka are in 10th with six..
