NAIROBI, Kenya- AFC Leopards SC ran riot in the first half of their SportPesa Premier League (SPL) encounter with Nakumatt FC, scoring thrice in the opening 20 minutes to emerge 4-2 winners on Sunday at the Kenyatta Stadium.

Jaffery Owiti opened the scoring in the third before Ezekiel Odera struck twice in two minutes to give Leopards a commanding 3-0 lead.

Joseph Waithira then pulled one back for the retailers in the 25th from the penalty spot for a 3-1 halftime score-line.

Marvin Omondi restored the three-goal lead in the 64th before Timonah added a second for Nakumatt with 11 minutes of regulation time left in the fixture.

Leopards held on to the final whistle with the win lifting them into third on the SPL table with 45 points from 26 games.

Bandari FC (48) remain second following a 1-0 victory over Tusker FC (36) courtesy of a Yemi Mwana goal in the fifth minute.

Perfect start

Elsewhere, another SPL fixture that yielded plenty of goals saw Wazito FC (23) come from a goal down to thrash bottom side Thika United FC (20) 3-1 on Sunday afternoon.

Sony Sugar FC (33) moved up five places in the 18-team log to ninth after an Enock Agwanda first half stoppage time goal was enough for them to stun Ulinzi Stars (38) at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.

Sixth-placed Mathare United FC (38) are level on points with Ulinzi and the Francis Kimanzi side had to also come from a goal down to record an important 2-1 home victory over Kariobangi Sharks FC (33).

Eric Kapaito got Sharks off to a perfect start, scoring in the 12th but Chrispin Oduor was on hand to equalize for the slum boys 10 minutes later.

The game looked destined to end in a draw but substitute Ahmad Ahmed had other ideas as his 84th minute goal sealed the three points for Mathare.
